Background Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been identified as a critical enabler of socio-economic development in emerging market, with potential to help tackle some of its most challenging social problems. Emerging researches in Machine Learning and Deep Learning applications suggest the possibilities of addressing cases across all the 17 of the UN’s sustainable-development goals, aimed to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, and protect the planet by 2030. Data Science Nigeria posits that the achievement of these goals starts from a deliberate effort to build world-class local capacity via hands-on immersion, best practice learning, locally-relevant innovation push and solution-thinking geared towards these verticals, especially the opportunity to create AI enabled solutions in areas like healthcare delivery, precision farming for optimized agricultural yield, disaster prevention, economic empowerment, equality, inclusion, new job creation and many more. It is against this backdrop that we are hosting the 3rd edition of our annual Artificial Intelligence Summit focused on Socio-economic Development and Social Good
