OVERVIEW
At DSN EdTech, we are democratizing access to quality education by redefining learning contents, specifically created with the learners in mind. We believe access to the global standards education should not be limited to a privileged few, and we have developed solutions that addresses learners from the low-income households.
We are looking for a dynamic UI/UX Designer who will be responsible for the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design of our various educational solutions. You will ensure that all elements of the user experience are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual design, well-optimised for the K-12 learners. The UI/UX Designer should be an individual with a proven passion for education and will work with our EdTech Team at Data Science Nigeria (DSN).
The position is a contract-based role.
WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES WILL LOOK LIKE
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product and development team.
- Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
- Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
- Build page navigation buttons and search fields
- Develop UI Interactive mock-ups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
- Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
- Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
- Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g., responsiveness)
- Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
- Adhere to style standards on fonts, colours and images
REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Computer Science or any other related field required
- 3+ years or equivalent experience in product design or UXI/UX design.
- Understanding of educational ecosystem in Nigeria, with a bias towards the K-12 grade.
- Proven experience working on EdTech or educational products and solutions.
- A strong design portfolio that shows off relevant design work and product thinking
- A deep understanding of the end-to-end iterative design process including how to develop and use design research, user stories, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping, user testing, and high-fidelity visuals to achieve human-centred design solutions
- A passion for solving product problems while balancing all facets of a user experience, such as strategy and research, information architecture, and interaction design, to create simple and effective design solutions
- Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Wireframe.cc and InVision)
- Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
- Good time-management skills
